Adam Yauch 5/8/1964 – 4/5/2012

Sad news this week of the passing of Adam Yauch, otherwise known as MCA of the Beastie Boys, after a prolonged fight with throat cancer.

I feel a little sad that it took his death to make me realise how much of an influence he, and the Beastie Boys, had on my life. I remember listening to ‘Hello Nasty’ on my brother’s Discman and being blown away. Even after 14 years, it’s an album I return to time and time again and each time it sounds as fresh as ever. It sounds like it could have been released yesterday.
